Ray Burley Productions Presents
Up Down Stick Stuck
World Premiere at the Hollywood Fringe Festival 2016

Logline: Three strangers stuck together in an elevator try to unstick their lives.

HOLLYWOOD, CA, June 2016 – Producer of Four Tree Plays, Encore! Producers’ Award winner and Fringe First Freak Award nominee (Best World Premiere), Ray Burley Productions (RBP) proudly returns to the Hollywood Fringe Festival with the World Premiere of Up Down Stick Stuck, an ensemble-generated, thoughtful play that considers loneliness and unity. Playing in the Sacred Fools Studio on Hollywood’s Theatre Row, Up Down Stick Stuck mixes laughter into tension the way everyone must to pull through each day. Stuck together in an elevator, the public facades that three strangers have put up crumble down as they reveal their pasts, presents, and futures, and learn what sticks us all together. The characters reveal stories of heartache, pot, panic attacks, and poop. Show dates: June 3-26, 2016. Run-time: 1hr. Ages 13+. All shows are Pay-What-You-Can. Tickets/Reservations: http://hff16.org/3609.

Ray Burley Productions is committed to the idea that art should be accessible to anybody and embodies it by making every show Pay-What-You-Can. Suggested donations are on a sliding scale, depending on income (1-hr worth of wages). They believe finances should not be a hindrance to audiences. By making theatre accessible to all, RBP expands the potential theatre-going community in Los Angeles and empowers audiences with thought-provoking material in an intimate environment.
In Decembers 2014 and 2015, RBP produced special holiday performances of The Gift of the Magi at The Red Dragon Café in Hollywood to raise money for charities. Their audiences have donated hundreds through these performances to Children’s Hospital, Children of the Night, People Assisting the Homeless (PATH), No Kill L.A., Valley Women’s Center Canoga Park, and Downtown Women’s Shelter. 2014’s theme was environmental stewardship with Four Tree Plays. Last year, RBP focused on love for literature and inspiring a new generation of Austen fans with Catherine. This year, RBP’s Up Down Stick Stuck takes on community-building and empathy. Additionally, RBP encourages volunteerism to its artists, who volunteer in animal shelters, schools, and gardens. RBP knows that women are underrepresented in today’s entertainment landscape. With female leads and a female playwright, RBP is paving the way towards equality. RBP embraces the potential of theatre and acknowledges the impact of sending a meaningful message through the medium.
