My Sister

"My Sister" is one of the best shows I've seen at Fringe this year. Emily and Elizabeth Hinkler are absolutely captivating as sisters in 1934 Berlin each trying to chase their dreams and ultimately survive the coming disaster. The script is beautifully written and expertly performed. I still was trying to catch my breath for hours after this show. Poignant and sincere, "My Sister" is one of this year's theatrical gems. It's at The Underground (and frankly, it takes a LOT for me to see anything of... full review

Truly a beautiful and profound experience! This is a wonderful show that invites the audience to immerse themselves in the wonder of imaginative storytelling. The tiny cast of 3 creates a world and takes you on a journey that will keep you thinking for days to come. I knew nothing about the show and no one in the cast before seeing the show. I am so glad I caught the late night show the other night! "Lady Into Fox" is one of my favorite shows I've seen so far! Do yourself a favor and see it! ... full review

Such a charming, heartfelt, funny and well done show! Lindy and Josh flawlessly embody multiple characters - all of which are layered, charming and sincere. These two are an incredible new asset to the L.A. Theatre Community! Can't wait to see where else their creative talents will take them! "Dating: Adults Embracing Failure" is one of my favorite shows of the Festival this year! ... full review

Shakespeare(ish)

I really enjoyed this show! It was fun and creative with some absolutely beautiful mask work! The retelling of Shakespeare plays was clever and interesting and at times completely hilarious. I especially loved the Pyramus and Thisbe one-man show as well as the Romeo and Juliet segment. Unfortunately it ran more than 10 minutes over its posted end time which forced me and my group to leave before it ended to get to our next show. This was really disappointing because it was fantastic up until ... full review

Annabella

Annabella is a beautiful and tragic story told by some of the most talented musicians I’ve ever seen at Fringe, or in L.A. theatre in general. The story is nuanced and captivating and the music is simply spectacular. The voices are simply effortless from all the actors even when singing incredibly complicated harmonies every note was spot-on perfect. The music is so moving and haunting that I wish there was a soundtrack to download – I would listen to it over and over! There are many musica... full review

Generation ME the Musical

At Fringe, one of my first questions about a show is “how long is it?” mainly because I stack shows and see several a day. This show is longer than most – past the 2 hour mark, and I can say for sure it is 100% worth every second. Well written and masterfully performed, Generation Me is this year’s MUST SEE musical. I’ve seen many shows this year, including a LOT of musicals, and no one can compare to these kids! With a cast of under-18s we miss out on seeing them at Fringe Central or other Fring... full review

YOSHIBA

I really enjoyed this show! It's the perfect length for a Fringe show for one thing - a little less than an hour. The performances are fantastic all around and the writing is interesting and thought-provoking. It's a fascinating look into our tech-dependent society that makes it so easy to miss out on real world connections. Really great work all around!... full review

This is one of the best shows I've seen at the Fringe this year. It's beautifully written, directed and performed and you are engaged from the moment it starts to the very end. The audience audibly gasped at the last moment. There are some great offerings at Fringe, but this one is truly professional, moving and heartfelt theatre. Be sure not to miss this one! Congratulations to all involved - just excellent all around! ... full review

Thistle & Weeds

Really nice slice of life piece! This show is well-written and beautifully performed. Also, I was very impressed by the high production value in this short piece. I especially enjoyed the cellist - her beautiful playing and expressive face added an overall feeling of melancholy and hope that was a constant presence. I hope that the company and playwright further develop this piece. I would love to see it as a full length and see the rest of the story! ... full review

Giraffenstein

Great show!! The concept is so off the wall, but done with such heart and sincerity that you totally buy it from the first moment. It's delightful in every way. The cast is incredibly talented and original music is fantastic. If there was a cast recording available I would buy it - it's that good! I also loved the creative use of costuming -- how do you make people look like giraffes without elaborate and expensive costumes? They found a simple and innovative solution! The lighting and movin... full review
