Louis Butelli

Born and raised on Long Island, New York, Louis has spent the past fifteen years as a professional actor, writer, teacher and director. From 1998-2008, he was Artist-In-Residence and Company Clown for the Aquila Theatre Company. During that time he played in over 25 productions of the works of William Shakespeare, and other classical playwrights Off-Broadway, in 49 US States and across Europe; taught over 300 masterclasses; wrote and appeared in his production of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde; and authored numerous successfully funded grants. Other credits include La Jolla Playhouse, CA; LA Shakespeare Festival; Shakespeare Theatre Company, DC; Yale Repertory Theater, CT; Long Wharf Theater, CT; Orlando Shakespeare Festival, FL; Alpine Theater Project, MT; Seaside Shakespeare, MA; La Scala Opera’s West Side Story in Milan, Beirut, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Osaka, and Tokyo; many others. TV: The Unusuals (ABC), All My Children (ABC), Law & Order (NBC), and Law & Order: Criminal Intent (NBC), Faith Molester (VH1). In Fall, 2010, Louis will teach a class in Comic Acting at University of Southern California. As a director, his work has been seen at Seaside Shakespeare, MA, and at the U. of South Carolina. His new play Fool Upon Fool is currently in development with Psittacus Productions. He lives in Los Angeles.
