(It's Been 76 Years And We're) Still Waiting for Lefty

jennifer ashe · August 28, 2021 certified reviewer
Following the format of Lefty, the play is told through vignettes each capturing a social/economic/political/moral choice we are facing today as a society. Tightly written and beautifully staged. This was an hour that asks the audience to think and not immediately assume the opinions or beliefs of anyone based on gender, sexual orientation, political party, status, or ethnicity. ... full review

A heartfelt tale that was told with such honesty, bravery and humor. Veronica's journey from Carey to Veronica today was delightfully awkward, making me squirm for Carey's struggles and cheer as Veronica finally came through. Thank you for sharing it with us.... full review

Three Can Keep A Secret

GO SEE IT!!! Thank you for such a fun night at the theater!! This wonderfully clever idea by Greg Crafts takes the audience along for the ride as we get to decide where the characters go next. Carey Mathews is our guide of sorts and oh what a guide he is. Great character, man! Graydon Schlichter and Jim Martyka play a fabulous bumbling duo getting befuddled as their plans go horribly wrong when the women show up, beautifully played by Heather Smith and Mandy Muenzer, and complicate everything. Wonderful idea to see what three iconic characters from male written and driven classics would do if freed from the confines of their stories. Very strong cast with unique voices.... full review

Lovely to see these women doing what they love. The group is tight and the show was a lot of fun. Then, when you hear their stories and why they get together, the evening takes on more meaning. Thank you for sharing!... full review

Sticky Fingers

When I first heard a description of the play, I was intrigued but it was so much more than I imagined. Terry Anne Holzman lets us into the minds of these eight women, all with something missing, something lost. Their need is undeniable, uncontrollable and each is trying to fill that need in different ways. The writing is tight and the cast is very strong. Highly recommended. ... full review

Seven Decembers

A relentlessly sad look at a family that is trapped somewhere between hope and grief. We follow Johnny May as she comes home for the seventh year in a row to a family that blames her for the loss of the prodigal son. Only by letting go will she begin to live again. ... full review

The Art of Falling Down

A beautiful exploration of self worth and survival. Is believing in ourselves enough? Maddie Moen's staccato quirks played against Porsche James' languid delivery wonderfully. This play reminds us that we do matter and with the simplest of effort, we can effect each others lives whether we realize it or not. ... full review

Fifty Shades of Shrew

I really enjoyed this new look on an old favorite..or is it new? Perhaps Shakespeare had this in mind all along? Mistress Kara setting the stage was such an inspired idea. We knew from the start where we were. Far from the typical bravado driven Petruchio, Dawn Alden, gave a lovely nuanced performance that actually showed that she truly wanted Kate with passion and might actual care for her? In the BDSM context, Kate's transformation was her own and Jen Albert reveled in it. Tara Donovan and Dana... full review

Booze, Balls and Bluegrass: A Daughter's Journey

I saw Booze, Blues and Bluegrass on the first night and though there were some technical difficulties, Laura handled herself with such grace and composure I was in awe. A sweet sad tale, getting to really know a parent and then saying goodbye is a powerful and life altering experience. Thank you for sharing a window into yours. ... full review
