This show contains multitudes. It is at once a reflection of our socio-political history, a spiritual quest, an expression of personal pain, and an example of quietly epic, confident storytelling. The direction is precise, bold, and respectful of the actors' considerable talents. Most of all, though, the show is entertaining. It moves with an assured pace, and leaves you thinking about the experience afterwards.... full review

Nicaea works small wonders. The plot and characters and concepts build upon one another, slowly and methodically, until you're left with the impression of having eaten a fulfilling, delicious meal without completely comprehending how or when it was served. I've seen pretty much every version of this show, and even co-directed one two years ago, so I was delightfully surprised when I found myself cackling and spontaneously applauding in the middle of scenes. That's how good the cast is of this show: I can watch a piece I've personally blocked out before, and still be riveted. Hats off to Courtney Bell and Corey Lynn Howe for injecting such energy into the production. And particular shout-outs to Jim Martyka, Ben Atkinson, Lee Pollero, and Jacob S... full review
