Kyla 'Tucaya' Garcia (she/her/hers)

Originally from Hoboken, NJ – Kyla ‘Tucaya’ Garcia is a BFA graduate from Rutgers University, where she spent her third year studying abroad and performing the classics at the Globe Theatre in London. In 2014, Kyla wrote, produced, and starred in the acclaimed one-woman show ‘The Mermaid Who Learned How to Fly.’  In collaboration with Combined Artform the show continued to evolve and grow at Theatre Asylum in a series of encore performances. She also performed ‘The Mermaid Who Learned How to Fly’ in the 2015 Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival and United Solo in November 2015.  In 2015, Kyla joined Native Voices Theatre company and was proud to produce ‘Indians in a Box: Stories from the Indian Boarding School’ at HFF15.  

After a hiatus from the beloved Hollywood Fringe, Kyla is back in 2023 as Director and Producer of Samantha Bowling’s acclaimed solo show “This Was Never Supposed to be a One-Woman Show: A One-Woman Show,” which won the Encore Producer’s Award, is nominated for both the JAXX Cultural Arts Envoy Award and the 2023 Best Solo Performance Freak Award! 

Fun facts:  Kyla has narrated over 300 audiobooks, she spent quarantine in the forest working with rescued wolves, and is a frequent spoken-word performer at the world-renowned Nuyorican Poet’s Cafe.
