Melody Rahbari
Melody studied directing at The University of La Verne, graduating with her Bachelors in May of 2008 with departmental honors. In the last five years, she has directed thirteen full-length and one-act productions. Though she has a deep passion for European absurdism and the classics, directing such pieces as Endgame, Act Without Words I and Happy Days by Samuel Beckett, Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler, Fernando Arrabal’s Picnic on the Battlefield and Harold Pinter’s A Slight Ache, she has found a new love for American contemporary playwrights, directing The Baltimore Waltz by Paula Vogel, John Guare’s The House of Blue Leaves, Sam Shepard and Joseph Chaikin’s When the World Was Green, Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun and Stephen Adly Guirgis’ The Last Days of Judas Iscariot. She was a theatre teacher for the dA Center for the Arts in Pomona, CA and was Head of Public Relations and Recruitment for the University of La Verne Theatre Department. She participated in last year’s Fringe Fest directing a critically acclaimed production of Fool For Love and is ecstatic to be taking part in it again with The God of Carnage.
