NOSTALGIUM is an interesting two-hander with potential that has some very strong moments that comes from both Matt Benyo's writing and Tracy Dillon's performance. There are lines that really resonated with me and some of the text relating to the Bible was particularly brilliant. If you enjoy heady fare with lofty ideas this will largely appeal to you. Summer Sinclair's performance shows off her performance skills (acting, singing, even gymnastic-style choreography) in this multi-media, one woman show about her transcending her inner turmoil due to her conflicted relationship between her and her parents/family. I really responded to her physical, stylized storytelling--often in moments of dance and the forensics presentation of characterizing other family members, and to the father-daughter moments. A very rich and complex story about finding yourself in the chaos of crazy family and cultural dynamics told with verve, passion, and enthusiastic physical energy by Karen. You really feel the energy (blood, sweat, and tears) coming from the stage as she takes on multiple characters and voices of her family on a journey as she seeks out her own voice. Covers the interpersonal but also has an interesting perspective on some of the changes both Argentina and U.S. under went as shared in the play.... full review
