REVIEWS FOR BEST OF FRINGE 2012

Confessions of a Cat Lady (with a side of crazy!)

anonymous · August 27, 2012
KICK ASS. It was not only by far the best solo show I saw at Fringe, but it was perhaps the best acting I saw throughout the Fringe (and Best of Fringe) Fest. The humor was big, bold, daring, and yet it remained grounded, truthful, and never felt forced, over the top, hammy or too sitcom-y. On a technical note, I also loved the various lighting and sound cues throughout the show, as well as Tiffany's creative use of the whole stage, movement and environment work (all of which I felt were missi... full review

Texts from my Exes: A Musical Tribute

Caught some of this act at one of the Fringe Cabaret nights. Love me some Katie Molinaro! She's funny, spontaneous, talented and damn good looking too! Love the creativity of taking old text messages, writing music for them and them turning them into hilarious songs. Both the prepared songs and the improv songs were fun and truly entertaining. Hope to catch more of her in the future!... full review

Bijan the Magijan: An Exotic Evening of Magic & Mystery

I agree in a large part with Mr. Leggett's review. Two of us attended during the "best of" run and thought it was merely OK, while so many other shows we've seen in the Fringe this year are truly astounding. Not bad, not great.... full review

Jennifer Aniston Stole My Life

I had hoped to see this play during the Fringe Festival but just kept coming up short on time so was so excited when I heard it was extended and rushed right out and got a ticket (3 tickets actually, I brought friends and told them it should be hysterical - how could it not, the title alone said it all to me). I sat myself in a seat on Sunday, July 22 expecting a one-woman comedy performance. Don't ask me why, I guess I never read the other reviews or properly read the synopsis but when I saw t... full review

Came back for a second time, and brought my wife with me - she was floored by the powerful portrayals of all four actors and by the brilliant playwriting of Sarah Doyle. Tomorrow is the last chance to catch one of the BEST shows from Fringe 2012 - don't miss your opportunity to be moved by an amazing piece of theater - two enthusiastic thumbs up!... full review

Speed Merchant (of Venice)

Saw this again as part of the Best of Fringe, and brought my wife - we were both blown away by the performance. Every member of this ensemble cast is incredible. It was also wonderful to see our friend Tom Metcalf, the stage manager, on stage as Tubal/Lottery Assistant. Hats off to everyone for anyone incredible show! You are all diamonds!... full review

Another great show - my second and my wife's first. We both loved it, loved the energy and loved everything about it. The cast is great, and so very friendly - thanks and kudos for a job very well done!... full review

Bijan the Magijan: An Exotic Evening of Magic & Mystery

bob leggett · July 14, 2012
Truthfully, I don't understand how this production earned the right to be part of the Best of Fringe. It is not theater, and in my humble opinion, was not very professionally done. Don't get me wrong, the magic was good, and obviously Bijan has talent as a magician. But this is not theater. The show started more than 20 minutes late for no apparent reason, forcing me to have to do something I haven't done in three years of Fringe - walk out of a performance so as not to miss the headline ... full review
