Broads’ Word Ensemble presents “The Beyond Bechdel-Wallace Award”. Broads’ Word Ensemble’s mission is to make theatre by and about women, for everyone. We foster and promote diversity in entertainment and want to recognize those doing the same.

CHERRY POPPINS' CHERRY PICKS: RIPEST SHOW
CP Productions focuses on the love of the art and the audience being an equal player in the show. No one person should feel left out of the show they are seeing or in, it is one big working machine that makes theatre. This Show represents an ensemble that appears more as a family and a show that engulfs said audience to a point they forget where they are and are swept up completely by the experience.
FPI'S MOST WANTED AWARD
Inclusion on LA FPI’s Most Wanted List gives accolades to Fringe Festival Venues that significantly supported women playwrights during #HFF16. The Awards also draw attention to gender parity issues in #LAThtr, and shed a light on the fact that the number of plays by women increases dramatically every year during the Fringe… in part to the growing #FringeFemmes community.

THE DUENDE DISTINCTION
The Vagrancy produces work with that ineffable something, duende. A duende is a fairy- or goblin-like mythological creature from Iberian, Latin American and Filipino folklore. As Federico Garcia Lorca uses the term, it equates the fairy to a realm of being that has a heightened state of emotion, expression, and authenticity. It’s the spirit of evocation, it’s what gives you chills when you listen to a beautiful piece of music.

The Encore Producer Awards represent the best of the Hollywood Fringe as selected by venue producers, based on artistic merit and commercial potential. The extensions immediately follow the HFF2016 and run through July in participating fringe venues. Shows receive valuable extensions giving them the opportunity for additional audience, press, awards and extensions.

THE INKWELL PLAYWRIGHT'S PROMISE AWARD
The Inkwell Theater Development LAB is excited to present the second annual Playwright’s Promise Award at the 2016 Hollywood Fringe Festival. The Playwright’s Promise Award recognizes the writer of a Fringe production. It is based on the play itself, not necessarily the production.
THE LUMPY-CRAMP©, SPIRIT OF THE FRINGE, NEVER IN THE BOX AWARD
The Lumpy-Cramp, Spirit of the Fringe, Never in the Box Award, is the award that honors the true spirit of the fringe festival. Remembering the fringe forefathers as they performed “on the fringe” that very first year in Edinburgh. The idea that a production was never inside the box to begin with. The idea that a production goes against the establishment and takes the biggest risks, breaking the mold of whatever “theatre” is to create art. Prior winners such as “Beau and Aero” and “hippopatomedia” are true pioneers of that early fringe festival spirit.

THE UNLEASHED AWARD
The Unleashed Award is designed to acknowledge and celebrate productions that best exemplify the values outlined in Theatre Unleashed’s mission: to come together as one in order to create truly remarkable theatre with a fresh, thought-provoking approach to original or established works. We will be offering two awards—Most Unleashed Production and Most Unleashed Performance (not gender specific).
This year we, along with ACME Comedy, will also be offering the Tracey Collins Funny Girl award. We all knew Tracey as a rather fearless force on stage, who bravely took risks and found the funny in places we didn’t expect. She could carry a scene when needed, or deftly share an ensemble moment just as easily, all while connecting with audiences in a way that made them love her – and made them laugh. In addition to her work with Theatre Unleashed and ACME Comedy, she loved acting in and attending Fringe shows. So together, we’d like to honor her memory by recognizing a female performer who demonstrates Tracey’s spirit in a strong comedic performance at The Hollywood Fringe Festival.
