My overall impression

A solid ensemble cast with standout performances brings life to this timely and satirical look at a motley collection of dysfunctional personalities gathered at a community center to celebrate the end of the world. With a score that hints at themes from well-known rock musicals while managing to weave in a tribute to ‘80s synth-pop, Michael Shaw Fisher draws the audience into the delightfully schizophrenic world of the Doomsday crowd. Fisher’s performance as a charismatic cocaine-riddled opportunistic d-bag is in itself intoxicating, and Sarah Chaney brings the house down when she cuts loose with a powerful rock-soul lament about the woes of a repressed masturbating evangelical wife. This musical is a must see.
