What I liked

Michael Mullen is wonderful in the title role, with a supporting cast just as enthusiastic for the piece as he is. I especially enjoyed the skill of the young boy who seemed so natural onstage.

What I didn't like

I did not care for the ending at all. In fact, I think this will be the last Durang play I ever watch. Just not a fan of his dark humor. Not a fan of guns being shot onstage, especially with what is going on in society right now.

My overall impression

When we are welcomed into the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Sorrow, the good Sister Mary Ignatius proceeds to lecture us on the basic tenants of her Catholic faith. To say she is a bit twisted is an understatement. Michael Mullen handles the role with great skill and enthusiasm, drawing you into the lessons being presented – even if you don’t agree with them. But when the “pageant” begins, be ready for a strange turn of events.
