What I liked

The direction was snappy with clear stylized choices that feels like it totally fit the intent of the playwright.

Very strong fight choreography including human acrobatics that provide gorgeous composition, imagery, and unique theatricality—felt very clown-inspired at times.

Seating note: Since it’s a proper 3/4 style seating I think it’s best to sit in the center. I sat at one of side seats and unfortunately the opening bits were lost on me because of the extreme angles.

What I didn't like

I would have liked to see an additional moment, a creative choice in the play, that would have communicated/telegraphed early on via sound effect, circular dialogue, or some kind of theatrical device indicating, but not spoonfeeding, to the audience, the condition of the man. If there was one there I must have missed it.

Overall, I think that the intent of the playwright was executed extremely well!

My overall impression

Borrowing from classic Hollywood comedies like the Three Stooges and Laurel and Hardy, 45 Milligrams takes these physical comedy elements and sensibilities, drops in a heap of dark absurdity, and blends it into a weird little 35 minutes that fits right into its own category. A great piece for fringe!
