The lyrics and music, the tongue in cheek asides to the audience, the silly character games, the subtle jokes you might not notice right away and the emotion that actors like Adair Tishler weren’t afraid to tap into.
What I didn't like
Every once in a while, the spoken lines were drowned out by the music underneath (not often) and it made me wish the actors were mic’d because I didn’t want to miss anything.
My overall impression
This is a fun show that has a lot of inside references, dirty jokes, clever lyrics and real emotional moments. I know absolutely nothing about Pokemon and due to the wonderful writing, direction, choreography, light design and cast, I started laughing the moment the lights came up and kept laughing throughout the rest of the show.
