Returning from performing around the country, Corey Taft shares an evening of poetry with the City of Angels. At times the melodic rhyme of hip hop, at times the crackling voice of a campfire folk song, and at times the comforting softness of children’s literature, Corey’s wide-ranging selection of poetry blends together like a roller coaster in a thunderstorm strapped in with someone you love by a seatbelt you know won’t break.
Corey Taft was born in Omaha, Nebraska and grew up near the Elkhorn River. After high school he moved to California where he studied Cinema and Communications. Corey was an active and successful competitor in Speech and Debate for both Palomar College and Cal State Los Angeles. At Palomar he earned an Associate’s Degree in Communications and at Cal State LA he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Scriptwriting/Film Studies.
Corey has worked many jobs and will likely work many more. He has been writing and performing spoken word poetry for over 15 years. You can often find him performing around Southern California in places like the Da’ Poetry Lounge in Hollywood or the La Paloma Theatre in Encinitas.
