This is a story that starts how most stories start… ‘In ancient times…in Ancient Greece. Lived Caenis most beautiful of all the maidens…..’ a story we’ve heard a thousand times before. A thousand ways.
In this modern re-telling of this ancient tale, we meet Caenis. Alone in the desert. Stuck in no-mans land. Skilfully blending electronic music, digital landscapes and powerful experimental prose we give voice to a voiceless character….a lot of voice.
For how long will these atrocities happen to women in stories? Maybe the time has come to write new mythologies. One where the woman is not suffering in the gaps of history where female characters are laid to rest without redemption. This solo-performance is driving new narratives for women. Taking them firmly out of the desert and into warmer shores.
It is time to end this Drought.
