What I liked

Everything, but I especially loved the way Dr B sits with his back to the audience, and it’s like his victims/pawns are performing more for him than the audience. It made me feel a lot of pity and compassion for these people right from the get go, I wanted them all to be okay.

While the subject matter is dark, the play doesn’t really revel in its own twistedness. It’s surprisingly warm, which at times feels like a hypnosis of sorts, like watching mice lure themselves into a snake hole. But everyone’s upbeat outlooks often also reveal genuinely beautiful and fun aspects of everyone caught in Dr B’s web.

I love how the doctor gets the least amount of stage time, and while his presence is felt throughout, he’s never really portrayed as a mastermind… just a sad, evil little gremlin taking advantage of vulnerable people.
