As always, School of Night manages to take a bevy of tried and true theatrical styles, apply it to a classic play, and create something that feels new. Their use of masks, the impassioned speeches, the dance, the combat – every desperate element works together to create a cohesive whole. The entire cast commits bravely to their roles, but Jason Brit who plays Hercules and Tiffany Cole who plays Megara are particular standouts.
What I didn't like
Some preview-related gaffes.
My overall impression
You will never see anything else like this. This sort of commitment to the theatricality of theatre is exactly what School of Night is known for and exactly why you should go see it.
