David Shaughnessy was stunningly good! He did an impossible job, holding the audience all by himself for 80 minutes, going from one character to another without a breath between. I was overwhelmed by his vocal ability and talent! A few cuts from the author or director would make the script better; also I could have enjoyed a little more light on the stage. The subject matter is transitioning from the gender you were born with to the gender your emotions tell you you are, and how difficult it is to take that life-changing step. I think we all have something to learn from through this unique perspective told by a boxing commentator, brought up in a less accepting era than we live in now, yet struggling with some of the same issues surrounding identity we can face no matter how old we are or what circumstances we were brought up in. You can sense his shame turn into pride, and fear turn into hope by the end of this show, and this transition itself is an important story that beckons to be felt. ... full review

This show is really well done. The actor who plays Ronnie Brixton is immensely talented. At first I felt like I was watching a professional public speaker, which is in line with the character. And as the story unfolds, you get to see the depth of his acting ability. Great writing as well. A polished production overall that is worth your time.... full review
