What I liked
What worked for me was Janus’s authenticity and insight into her character. As an autobiographical performance, she cleverly presented her personal narrative as a series of epochs, each representing a stage of growth and transformation. I also found her voice- both singing and speaking- to be lovely to listen to and very suitable for this kind of performing.
What I didn't like
Given the general approach of a 1-woman show, I didn’t see a lot that needed to be changed. Janus handled the limitations of the space and the milieu of her narrative very well.
My overall impression
I thought it was very well conceived and prepared for. I liked the production values and the core focus. The entire notion of “witch-ness” worked very well to give the audience a fantastical world within which she lives.
