In a word, this show is: Awesome!! Funny, Intelligent, well written, directed, and acted. It raises the roof on the stereotypical idea of what it means to be black in American society, and breaks down the "Berlin Wall" of prejudice!! If you only go to one show - go to this one!! I saw this performance earlier this afternoon (June 19th) and found it to be an amazing theater experience that really explores significant "issues" about culture, race, and "blackness" in America in ways that challenge, while using humor to bring the point through about the breadth and depth of the Black experience (or more truly, Black experiences) in America. Using a multicultural cast and creating a safe space, the director really brings it home in ways that leave us all with things to think about, AND having had a great theater experience. I will definitely go to see it again while it is here, and encourage others to do the same. I really enjoyed it!
