The premise is fun and fresh, along with the world its built in. The songs both compliment the funny aspects while still ringing true to the more serious tones throughout the play. The mad scientist character and the “Runaway Clone” characters are great foils of each other and play off of each other well. The newscaster couple have a great back and forth. The climax of the play is surprisingly heartfelt and still manages to maintain a fun quality through the emotional heaviness.
What I didn't like
Some of the ensemble songs could be fine-tuned to improve comprehension of all of the different voices. The ending seemed a tad rushed through, but not uncomfortably so. Mostly minor points.
My overall impression
This play strikes a balance between heartfelt moments and humorous circumstances. A great ride with a poignant ending. It is refreshing to have an original story that immediately seems like a classic in the making.
