The sound from the theatre next door was very distracting.
My overall impression
Ruth Fowler is a very important playwright and we are very lucky to have her in Los Angeles. Her voice is raw, fearless, blunt, unedited, dangerous and passionate. As in her stunning “bled for the household truth” at Rogue Machine last year, this new piece is an exposed, in-your-face exploration of the dark beneath the surface. No one is writing about what she writes about. Under Ryan McRee’s deft, elegant direction, we are witness to a dazzling and difficult performance by Maliabeth Johnson. You don’t want to miss it.
