MAN IS WOLF

Wow. I really enjoyed this play. Phenomenal writing. Spot on casting. And the shocking surprise ending was super satisfying. Endge-of-the-seat tension, good laughs, and ripped from the headlines subject matter. This play is of the moment. Fantastic. 10/10 Hollywood Fringe Festival theater. This was a great experience across the board. The writing stands out as A+ storytelling. (Someone is going to adapt this into a film. It's prime material for a movie adaptation.) Hard hitting drama is a tricky genre, but when done well it can be thrilling. Man Is Wolf achieves that level of impact. A fascinating play, incredibly acted with subtlety and intensity. Sometimes touching, sometimes disturbing, this is a fine piece of theater worth seeing. Wonderful show with deep character development and emotion. This is a true, classic play with no gimmicks like animation or music to try to make the audience feel something that's not there. The oddly evocative title doesn't really prepare you for the two-character drama that plays out---but in this case that makes for Good Theatre! After 80 minutes it turns out to have been a revelation of the black heart behind the All-American facade of a teen champion. It's a Star Vehicle for two guys generations apart, fortunately cast with two Could-Be stars who don't need the mounting missing from this modest production. They command attention with their craft, and I found myself wondering how much rehearsal time they invested to bring this to its present perfect peak. Man is Wolf is an alarmingly truthful piece that illuminates our animalistic patterns kept integral beneath our social and moral responsibility. It shows these patterns turning to sexual violence that finds the wall cracks in humanity's deteriorating institutions and leaps. As the audience, we watch two individuals struggle to fortify their own convictions against the other's attack in the confines of a motel room sealed by an unforgiving winter storm.
