What I liked
The play really captures the experience of being in a hospice- the stark realities, the sometimes rapid changes and the endless waiting.
The contrast between hospice reality and the outside world and the practical but heart- breaking things loved ones have to deal with.
The writing, acting & direction is superb and there are very clever little touches that pull you in to being a part of the unfolding sadness, happy and tormenting reflection and horrible emptiness of grief.
What I didn't like
The only thing that can be improved is the occasional audience member who sit resisting letting themselves connect. You may not let yourself cry or feel but this play with work its way into the coldest hearts.
My overall impression
A brilliant show that manages to pull you into your heart center even if you don’t want to go there.
I don’t want to give too much away but prepare to experience what dying and losing a parent is really like; and it’s not like in TV.
As a therapist who has worked with a lot of grief: this play is cathartic and very important and a rare gem: to have the space to really let ourselves connect with these primal feelings of loss that our society runs away from, denies, hides or drowns in alcohol & drugs.
