What I liked

I really like how confrontational the character “Webster” is throughout the show. He is holding you accountable for your poor behavior. He has laid out the meaning of every word and yet you’ve taken it upon yourself to violate people in spite of them speaking to you directly. You made assumptions and you twisted it up, so you can’t blame the victim. And “No” is such a fierce personification of the word. She is hard and unwavering as she should be without hesitation or deviation. I loved “No”. “Maybe” is wishy washy and kind of all over the place. Her commitment to her character is undeniable. And her carefree flighty energy is the perfect embodiment of the word she represents. In this moment I specifically remember their performances, but I assure you I enjoyed every character’s story and how it manifested on stage.

I just love when art goes for the jugular. We need more shows that don’t give you time to come up with excuses for why you aren’t your best self and why we as people have failed each other over and over again.

What I didn't like

I went for the very very first show and being an actress myself I sympathize with the first day jitters. We’ve all been there. However, the cast was very present in their character and their environment. There were only a few moments where a slower pace would have benefited. I’m confident that by this point, they are more than comfortable and take you on their journey effortlessly.

My overall impression

This show confronts the hard simple truth that we interpret words for our own benefit, despite their true meaning. The English language is hard enough. If we don’t abide by the meaning of words, why do we bother learning their definitions? Collectively, we need to say what we mean and respect the boundaries people set in place. It’s never acceptable to deny a person their own voice. I like the message and I think the show is easy to follow.
