This production is spot on . A dramatic center for this years Fringe. The acting full throttle when it needs to be and delicate when called for. The large modern dance moves accentuate the turmoil, but its the small facial expressions in the background that give it depth. You will be floored.... full review

Go! Go see this production. Under the keen direction of Olivia Buntaine, this beautiful ensemble is wrenchingly heartbreaking. They did such a good job making me forget that this is classical text and got right to the emotional core of the play. The production design embraced everything I love about theater- symbolism and functionality. Nothing is wasted, everything is used. The movement that was utilized throughout the piece added to it, and did not take me out of the world of the play. Extra big shout out to Taylor Jackson Ross as Hecuba. She takes a very difficult role and makes her so human, so understandable and relatable. We take this journey with her. Ross is formidable and a force on stage. Greek theater isn't normally my thing - for the most part, the productions of it that I've seen have just been a lot of people yelling. But this powerful, intimate production invites you in rather than shouting at you. There were so many visceral moments that showed us how much this play has to say about the position of women in our own world - and the many ways in which people with any kind of power are driven to use that power to harm someone with less of it. I don't want to spoil anything by trying to describe those moments here (and I wouldn't be able to do them justice anyway), but whether or not you're a fan of Greek theater, go see this production. ... full review

In a word: Haunting. This show is incredibly well done. The use of the space, lighting, and sound was remarkable and moving. This is an ambitious play for a Fringe company to mount; I know the Santa Clarita Shakespeare Company is doing it for one weekend in July at the site formerly known as REP East. Luckily, Project Nongenue succeeded: the production was excellent. Even if you can’t follow the specifics of the story well, you can get the gist of the performances. And those performances? Just “wow”. Moving and beautiful, clearly demonstrating the anguish that these women were going through. Director Olivia Buntaine (FB), assisted by Elizabeth Jane Birmingham (FB), with movement direction by Christine Breihan (FB), have worked with the performance ensemble to create nothing less than a work of art. This is a thoughtfully and effectively staged and deeply moving production. Olivia Buntaine is a director to watch. The cast delivers solid performances, especially Kay Capasso as Eris. The modern yet classic production and costume design have a timeless feel with a dustbowl palette. I look forward to seeing more from Project Nongenue in the future.... full review

Trojan Women is a wondrously spun tale by the actors of Nongenue. It was thrilling to see such unique and diverse women performing this classic play with a marvelous amount of passion and fervor. I recommend this play to all those who know that live theater can be a magical place that takes us to far and distant lands that yet feel very near. ... full review
