What I liked
The variety of storytelling techniques – direct audience address, song, puppetry, video, etc.
What I didn't like
The stage left sheep costume needs a new zipper.
My overall impression
Absolutely heart-wrenching and hilarious. This musical beautifully balances devastatingly dark confessional storytelling with the absurd and obscene humor of a 14-year-old boy. In the theatre, it made me cry, laugh and groan; thinking about the play afterwards had me weeping in a Trader Joe’s parking lot. Well done.
