What I liked

I loved the extreme differences in personalities of the four brothers as that’s typically the case in real families.

Thai Edwards was a VERY strong lead as Von! I found him to be my favorite character..so much range! One moment he was the pitiful “woe-is-me” brother, then the angry bullying brother, then a passionate and sensitive side. Not to mention he was HILARIOUS! Edwards was very natural and comfortable in every emotion showcasing how seasoned of an actor he is and the various different emotions he can bring forth. EXCELLENT performance!

Maceo Fisher was also great as Chess. Another multi-layered character. I appreciated the softness and vulnerability of his character to contrast the strength and outspokenness of the other brothers. His performance definitely made me tear up a few times! 😢

Kevyn Richmond plays Scoop, the youngest brother who’s lit like a firecracker! His character tickled me as it holds so true to youngest siblings. The youngest brother in our family is EXACTLY the same! I thought he did a great job, a little rushed at times but loved the enthusiasm!

Lucky Mor plays the oldest and most conservative brother and brotha 😉 I loved his delivery and the insight into the professional black man’s struggle to live in the gray area of society, forced to always have to choose between being black or being professional as if the two can’t coexist. As he so profoundly states, no matter what you do as a black man, no matter how successful you are, you’re “STILL .. just a n*gga!”. Lucky was very poised and convincing. I suspect he is very much this character in real life as the role was so effortless.

Lucky as writer and director was superb! I thought the story was EXTREMELY well written. The story and characters were easy to follow from the very beginning. The stage was a perfect setting. It was just great! Would see it again and again! This really needs to be on a bigger stage and even would make a GREAT television series, especially with our nation’s current events.

Great job guys!

What I didn't like

Some parts were a tad bit rushed but I suspect that was only because the plays had to fit into strict 1-hour time frames. If this wasn’t a festival and they had more time, I don’t think this would’ve been an issue at all Other than that, I loved everything about it!

My overall impression

STILL was an extremely powerful and moving play. It’s a story that was particularly moving for me as I’m going through this situation with my family currently so it hit extremely close to home. It’s a story I feel we all can relate to.
