What I liked
Everything.
What I didn't like
This work is beyond my artistic intelligence. I cannot critique anything that I witnessed.
My overall impression
Holy shit. Talk about a ride.
Brechtian. Epic. Surreal. Theatre.
Let’s get the first thing out of the way. Do I know what actually happened onstage? Like a plot… no, no, no. No plot that I could keep track of. Characters? Yeah. Sure. Kinda. There are people on stage. Dialogue? Not really. Well, yeah. But… okay, I give up. I can’t really explain this show to you. What I can say is that I’m positive every single person will walk out of that theater with a completely different viewpoint, interest, love, hate, whatever, for this piece of art.
I can only describe how I felt. This brought me to a point where I had no choice but to conclude that this is something that I may never fully grasp. I will never see the entire picture. A behemoth force that is so much greater than I am. My mind was sprinting on the hamster wheel of Nietzche’s Eternal Reccurence.
The imagery was marvelous. Bioshock came to mind. Metropolis. Film Noir. So many wonderful memories that I was associating with the traces of theme that slipped in and out of my mind.
Go with it. So far, my pick for Top of Fringe because… art.
