What I liked

She’s going through the show in real time, allowing us to experience the conflicts with her instead of summarizing them. Her bravery. Her energy. Her creativity. Her craft allows her to be open and expressive…and she does it.

What I didn't like

There truly are so many wonderful elements to this story and performance from many different angles that it works as is. I find her personal journey so compelling and so primary that I wish I had been let in on that in some way right from the start instead of it being a surprise.

My overall impression

The title suggests political discourse but this is actually a fascinating, funny and refreshing look into how we learn to negotiate, accept and love ourselves (all of them.) Thank god. Propelled by the desire to leave the country, this is a thoughtful, self-reflecting solo show whose structure allows us to take the journey with the main character, instead of being told what happened. That is rare at the Fringe and that makes this one stand out. Well done.
