I am the co-author and editor of a nonviolence curriculum entitled “64 Ways to Practice Nonviolence.” It was developed out of an understanding of four (4) core concepts that are at play in our everyday World: Power (Power Over vs. Power With); Culture (the systemic nature of the environments in which we live – its history and how imbedded we are in it); Violence (its various forms: physical, verbal, emotional, etc.); and Nonviolence [activating what Mahatma Gandhi called Satyagraha (Soul Force) – Ahimsa – the Power Within our Hearts to do no harm]! The information in my show creatively engages the audience members in a conversation about how we are or are not living out and participating in – these distinctions – it points to the power we have when we mindfully make choices that nurture the larger community – choices that honor the dignity and worth of every individual – that activate “life” – that reflect back goodness and kindness – and creatively reveals to the audience – in Spoken Word – Narrative – Song – Dance – and through Humor – how these distinctions and our choices in regard to them play out in our individual and collective lives and communities – at times for the Greater Good – at other times – not for good!
