A boy grows up in California, baby-sat in large by the television, where he imitates every sound issuing from it with delight.
A veritable Gerald McBoing-Boing, he’s told from tender age that he should go to the big leagues of Hollywood, but he’s got a half a century of work cut out for him in the in-box before the black box.
His friends through every path assure him to go “make it big” in Hollywood, but he battles with bad planets, mocking gods, and a propensity for addiction that has other plans.
He digs graves, drives ambulances, and cooks for the stars, drinks too much and writes treatises on napkins as offerings to his mutilated shadows.
He moves to south central (Wisconsin) and gets his misfit ass reassigned to sheep herder, where he wrings out his father through the floor of solitary to get a sense of purpose.
What he inherits is the angelic singing of sheep herders on the other side of the world.
He works in community radio, modern dance, live vocal foley, solo and collaborative improvisatory performance.
_ I came back to see Ernie’s performance of Ingersoll Speaks! as it’s been too long since I’ve seen my friend on stage. He and his wife hustled me to 6 performances in the 24 hours I was there! Each struck a chord taht screamed “Do This, Already!” and I formulated the idea on the Greyhound back to San Francisco
