Los Angeles, CA. – ’ The Maya In Me’ is a one-woman show written and performed by actress and counselor, Tameka Bob, with the inspirational writings from the late Dr. Maya Angelou, widely considered as one of America’s literary laureates of conscience who wrote vividly and poignantly about life’s struggles and the ultimate victory through defeats.

The show was created by Tameka who describes it as, “One Woman’s Turbulent Love Story Guided by Dr. Maya Angelou’s wisdom”. Dr. Bob, who holds a PhD as a Mental Health Counselor and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, dedicates this performance as both a tribute to Maya Angelou, and as a way to reach out to people, especially women and young adults.

Interviewer – Robert Walker: It is great to speak with you Tameka about your new one-woman show and how you have worked the poetry of the late Dr. Maya into it,

Q) ‘The Maya In Me’ is a one-woman show that explores episodes in your own life Tameka. Was it therapeutic writing it?
A) Yes it is. It is a personal story. Writing my story was very therapeutic. After writing the first page, tears were flowing. Issues I thought were resolved clearly were not. Sometimes we repress thoughts and actions from our past so it will not cause us any pain. However, it is always good to pull those difficulties back up to face them with honesty and clarity.

Q) Why did you choose Maya Angelou to channel, if you will, in telling this one-woman story?
A) I honestly cannot remember the one moment where I chose Dr. Angelou. I believe it just evolved. I think a lot. Some would say I’m an over thinker. But what I do know, is that I’ve always enjoyed her work. And as I began to study her life more, there
