This fast paced true story takes place over a couple of decades reduced to hours and starts out with three brothers being raised by a single mom who moved from an apartment in Watts when their mom bough a home in Compton. The two older brothers had to pretty much fend for themselves as their mom was at work most of the time. The two brothers get jumped on their first day of school by what seems like the entire school. The next day the boys who initiated the melee, tried to shake hands and make up but these brothers were having no parts of it so they walk across the tracks and join the Compton Crips only to find that the two of them together a had enough power to start their own faction of the gang.
When several other boys that had been jumped saw them stand up to the boys that jumped them, they became instant heroes of sorts helping other boys that were being bullied while creating a powerful reputation for themselves. Police sirens. helicopters leading up to in the Ronald Regan era, where crack cocaine and sherm (PCP) pretty much destroyed the community but it all adds up to one heck of a ride through this tumultuous time period in this city. Beautifully voiced and acted by Clea Lewis audience will laugh at the crack heads and cry at the funerals where the killers sit with the family right next to the mother and cry louder than anyone else. From the younger brother stealing Volkswagens and going to buy McDonalds while the older brothers settle for oatmeal some nights. You will definitely not be bored with this ride, like a fly on the wall, from the front seat of your low rider, as you spend.. A COUPLE OF HOURS IN COMPTON.
