Too Sick and Naked is a daring, touching, and sometimes hilarious one woman show about the maniacal ups and downs of healing from life-threatening illness as a young woman in Hollywood. In order to fully treat Lyme disease and its debilitating symptoms, Jackie Shea had to explore and mend all of the darkest and most intimate parts of herself —her relationship with her crack addict father, her relationship with her codependent mother, her abandonment issues, sex issues, self-worth issues, and all of her identity issues. Too Sick and Naked pairs the dark with the comical, pulling audiences in to go on this adventure to the wacky and surreal—from getting blood drained in Indonesia, to coffee enemas, to weird karaoke performances with Mr. Belding, there are endless ways to try to feel better. Based on her blog and podcast, “Too Sick and Naked: Healing out Loud,” Jackie Shea takes her story to the stage, breaking boundaries and inspiring audiences to do just that: Heal out Loud.
