What I liked

When dealing with a subject matter as this, I can imagine that many productions could fall into the trap of exploiting the suffering of its characters. And although there is plenty of suffering portrayed, by abstracting the violence of the character’s situations through the strategic use of dance the audience is allowed to focus on the overall story of the play. This choice makes for a more dynamic viewing experience.

What I didn't like

Trafficked 2.0 did a great job of setting the scene for its characters. However its brevity causes the piece to feel as if it has an abrupt end. I left the theatre wanting to know more, which speaks to the powerful nature of the play. I hope that in the future this story can become more fleshed out and that we learn more about all the characters and where they go from where we left them.

My overall impression

Trafficked 2.0 is a fascinating and creatively rendered interpretation of the horrific circumstances that young girls and women experience under the bondage of human trafficking.
