What I liked

The WOMEN! It was incredible to hear this story and see the representation of women during WWII. I love the exploration of each individual’s story and yet each story all feels connected and affects one another. This is all because of the brilliant writing in the production. I loved the lighting design and the simplistic set. The different colors of the lighting and the use of spotlight created very nice and intimate moments. The blocking was also very well thought out and the use of space was great! Everything in the production worked well together in harmony. I definitely shed some tears throughout the show.

What I didn't like

I loved the writing but I personally felt that we could have gone deeper into each character. Perhaps if the show was longer, it could allow for greater arcs for all the characters overall.

I also felt that the conflict in the story was not as high staked or as prominent in the show. The story felt stuck at one point because they were all just waiting for their assignments. But the acting from each individual actor kept me mesmerized… again maybe if the play was longer we could explore more internal conflict or build even more tension.

Lastly, I wish there was more movement in the piece. The transitions were clean and didn’t drop the momentum of the show but they felt robotic. There so many beautiful moments of dance and expression of the body… I wish the transitions flowed like that too.

My overall impression

A beautiful ensemble who were like five peas in a pod! The five leading ladies were incredible. Each person brought something unique and stood out on their own yet they all gelled so well together.
