What I liked
Visually the exquisite set and costumes captured that over-the-top Hollywood era.
What I didn't like
Both actresses were expressing emotions with grimaces and eye-rollings that the script didn’t fully explain. The interview, while full of questions and answers, suggested a former personal relationship but it was never clear whether it was affectionate or antagonistic.
My overall impression
By taking readings from the scandalous Mary Astor diary the play has some amusing segments for those who might remember George S., Kaufman as an unlikely satyr. Modern audience members might wonder what all the fuss was about.
