LA Theater at its best. Feels like you’re discovering the next Philip Seymour Hoffman. Andrew Perez was made for Kinski— embodiment bordering on possession. His performance was high voltage electricity.
Going in I didn’t know what to expect. I’d only seen one of Kinski’s movies, the famous Fitzcarraldo, so I worried the subject matter might be too esoteric to appreciate. It wasn’t. The show was surprisingly easy to follow, visually captivating, and also very touching.
A sympathetic portrayal of an actor who was probably not easy to like or understand in real life. You walk out of the theater caring about the violent-tempered Kinski, maybe against your better judgment.
