Linden Waddell brings the stage alive with wit, pizzazz, and a beautiful voice. The lyrics are sharp, funny, and timeless. And her voice is beautiful whether sounding serious or lighthearted. Her accompanist, Marjorie Poe, ably supports the music on the keyboard, and is hilarious on the recorder in the parody of Greensleeves. Singing one of Sherman’s non-parody songs from a musical he wrote provided a poignant reminder of the heart behind the humor
What I didn't like
Linden Waddell said he wrote over 200 parodies, so I think the addition of the 150 or so she left out would be great. She might consider a multi-evening staging to get them all covered. I believe she would have SRO every evening.
My overall impression
The evening was a delightful walk down memory lane. The music is part of the American theater and pop culture with Sherman’s lyrics providing a hilarious twist.
