What I liked

A triumphant show that left me inspired, Blamed is a both a fun romp of sisterhood, a thoughtful look at women’s stories throughout history, and a slightly harrowing reminder of how women are cast as The Problem. I had no idea what to expect going in…. but I found beautiful storytelling highlighted by wonderful singing and dancing by these actors plus a small folksy bluegrass band that lent a perfect cadence. Each member of the ensemble more than pulls their weight and, when it’s their turn to be center stage, they seem to give you their gift. This just reinforces the themes in the play – the stories told of women of history, of fiction, of legend – what the woman did, what the woman gave, what was done to the woman, what each woman endured, what is the woman’s legacy. It’s an all female cast so, in this telling, the perpetrators are their sisters on the stage. You will see how this is heavy theme is thoughtfully handled between the scenes. I thought these transitions between the scenes were captivating, each player lending a dose of what seems like ad-libbed energy – all careful and successful stagecraft that in the moment feels like a little thrill of the chaos of “putting on a show”. I loved it.

What I didn't like

I could not always see clearly the clever props/tools/displays they used for each story but that was just my seat.

My overall impression

Inspiring and clever look at familiar stories performed by talented women .
