What I liked

The music, singing, and drumming were all phenomenal. The actress playing the storyteller was the stand out performer. Wonderful, timing, and a rare ability to connect with an audience. Beautiful

What I didn't like

The play felt short. I wanted it to go on longer. I also wanted to see more of the kings humanity. Which the quick pace of the play didn’t allow for. But even without that, This was a triumph and piece about the redemptive power of human consciousness. It’s impossible not to love this young, charismatic, and noble king. And it’s impossible not to get lost in the power of this storytelling

My overall impression

I love the show! It’s well written, will directed, well staged, and well acted. The storyteller and the kings were standouts. She for her charisma, her wit and her comic timing. He for his intensity, his empathy and his charm. Seeing this, I was reminded of Lin Manwell Maranda’s Alexandra Hamilton. The king here is idealistic, Young, a genius and compassionate. It made me want to learn more about this historical figure. I also love the storyteller, and the way her character was able to draw parallels between current Socio economic struggles and those of the 15th century. Her last line, delivered to “the people of the future” was harrowing and profound. I also love the visuals in the show. The beautiful costumes, the white curtains, in the projected images. Can’t recommend this highly enough. Show I attended was sold out, but I was lucky enough to get in on standby
