What I liked

I loved the B movie aspect of the piece. The actor that played Roy and the Little Boy were a shear delight and really got the mood of the piece. The little girl was also quite delightful. Very good staging and some of the songs were delightful including the opening and closing numbers. The Monsters Song & Dance number was adorable. The Taunting number sang by the Little Boy was very cute and in vain of the show. Roy’s number was well choreographed and cheeky delight.

What I didn't like

The Monster needs to sing. Light up that helmet and have him do that song and dance number and it will bring down the house.(I would cut the thought provoking number he sang….it just bottomed out so late in the show) I know that the challenges of producing a fringe show are difficult so I understand the reasoning behind this decision.

The song with the little girl dying was disturbing and really made us turn on our hero of the Little Boy…I know this is a send up of a bad movie but remember the parameters of musical theatre.

Numbers could be shorter eventually (one verse too many) and it either needs an intermission or clock in around 70 minutes eventually (also something to be thought of after Fringing.) More choreography and group numbers too.

My overall impression

PREVIEW PERFORMANCE: I loved the B movie aspect of the piece. The actor that played Roy and the Little Boy were a shear delight and really got the mood of the piece. The little girl was also quite delightful. Let the monster sing!!! (If not at the Fringe….beyond!) Cut some numbers for the sake of Fringe so it doesn’t run over. Great preview try out but it did go too long. I am sure these issues will be addressed. Picking up of cues will help that too!
