The concept and title of the play is brilliant. It’s a great tribute to the slasher movies of the 80’s, mainly the Friday the 13th series. It’s also very self aware, but also plays out as if it were a real slasher movie. I don’t think it’s self aware in the way “Scream” is, but it reminds me a little more of Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives, which at times, had a sense of humor to it and could be self aware at points. Anyone who is into the slasher genre will be able to get into this show pretty easily. The music is also great and the songs can be pretty catchy.
What I didn't like
It’s too short. I honestly didn’t want it to end and it would’ve been cool to get a few more character moments here and there.
My overall impression
If you are a fan of musicals, slashers, and smart self aware humor, than I can’t recommend Slashed enough. It’s also something that I feel would appeal to those who aren’t really into the slasher genre. It’s one of the best things I’ve seen at the Fringe Festival so far.
