What I liked
Smart and funny concept- seeing 45+ shows that friends are in so it’s hard to squeeze anything else in, but I’d heard the elevator pitch and it sounded fun.
Some great comedic lines – the surgeon cracked me up. The protagonist showed a great range from dazed to emotional and really took the audience along on a cool
Journey. I loved the relationships in the show- especially the parents – they were charming and I believed they were actually married. Strong acting and comedy all around.
What I didn't like
The show got out a full 10 minutes late which is beyond being a huge fringe faux pas… there’s no way as an audience member for me to know if that’s happening until it’s too late and it puts everyone at risk for missing their next show. I just made it to the next thing, barely. I also know stuff happens and who knows the circumstances – it was a preview so I’m figuring time won’t be an issue for the rest of the run…
I’d love to have learned more in depth about what the world of this operation is- since the show works with this hilarious fictional concept of being able to fix a broken heart it’d be fun to explore that world more to add more dimension and credibility.
My overall impression
Fun little slice of semi-fictional life. Great performances by the cast and several big laughs.
