What I liked

Sofie is a great story teller, engaging from beginning to end. She courageously shares her unique “Mexistani” experience and decidedly takes on a humorous outlook on life to speak up for those that cannot. Her heart shines through and makes you like her as soon as she steps on stage.

What I didn't like

Very entertaining, I loved the show.

My overall impression

I’ve been following her performances since back when she lived in Chicago. Sofie Khan is genuine, heartfelt, hilarious and most of all, BRAVE! Beyond the usual performance jitters, it takes a lot of courage to share her unique story. Growing up in racially segregated Chicago, with a Pakistani father and Mexican mother, made for plenty of entertaining and touching stories. Impersonations, a secret Catholic baptism, a Muslim arranged marriage, homophobia, Islamophobia, a rap performance en español and audience participation-I’ve never seen a show like “Mexistani!” It’s a performance not to miss.
