What I liked

The juxtaposition of the serious nature of the conversation with his mother and the humor of the songs was amazing. It showed me that, no matter how serious things are, you can still have fun. And, at the same time, no matter how much fun you are having, serious stuff is going on somewhere.

What I didn't like

The aspects of the show were wonderful. The minimalist beach setting could have used more sound effects as a reminder of where we were. But, most importantly, the theatre was an oven. There was no air movement at all. That I enjoyed the show so much was a testament to it’s quality

My overall impression

I have a theatrical background (I was a theatrical accountant in NY and spent a lot of time at the theater. They say that sincerity is very important and once you can fake it, you’ve got it made. There was nothing fake here. It was sincere from the hard life with mother to the fun of the music.
