I liked the pacing and structure of the story. Not all of the events were in chronological order, yet the story was organic and made sense.
I loved the character voices and the singing. Also, Jennie maintained amazing enthusiasm, energy and command throughout the show. She even rescued a man in the second row (giving him her bottle of water) who was experiencing an unfortunate coughing attack. Jennie came to his care, yet never missed a beat. Such an inspiring performer!
What I didn't like
I wanted to know the character of the mother-in-law a bit more. Maybe even see the mother-in-law and the mother get into a tiff.
My overall impression
This was such a fun, inspiring show. Jennie Fahn takes us on the journey of growing up as the daughter of Joyce, an over-the-top Jewish mother obsessed with looking her best and men with black hair. Heart-felt and honest, Jennie shares the good, the bad, the ugly, and most of all, the funny.
