‘TARGET’ ACTORS WANT YOU TO PUT A SOCK IN IT AT HOLLYWOOD FRINGE
Tired of all the political rhetoric emanating from your TV screen and radio? How about all that stupid spewing from someone’s mouth and feeling powerless because you just can’t do anything physical—or even verbal—to make it ALL just stop?!
Want to get that pent up aggression out of your system due to stupidity and rhetoric? Well “Easy Targets” at Sacred Fools is here for you.
A handy and incredibly entertaining solution has arrived in the form of two sets of four solo shows of Easy Targets: “America First” and “Women’s March” where actors say (and do) things that will make your hair stand on end until you realize you have been empowered with…socks.
Yes. Clean, balled up, cotton or woolen socks, which—when hurled toward the best of the most offensive and foul—renders a highly pleasant feeling of accomplishment and affirmati

The redoubtable Burglars of Hamm have revived their parody of one-person shows, and it’s about the most fun one can have in the theatre. The concept is simple: four short solo shows are performed in the course of an hour, and the audience is encouraged to throw balled-up socks at the performers when it is offended by anything. This year there are two separate programs to attend — “The Women’s March,” performed by women or “America First,” performed by men. This is a review of the latter.
Hugo Armstrong is blissfully cornball in Jon Beauregard’s “Keep on Truckin’,” a shameless paean to the glories of driving trucks in America. The character goes on about how his truck horn is “the sound of freedom,” and rhapsodizes about how the Grand Tetons are really “the big titties” — then steals the show with a ridiculously long slow-motion crash sequence.
Albert Dayan is wonderfully loathsome in his own “Pri

June 12, 2017 By Taylor Winters In Fringe Festival, ReviewHave you ever sat in the audience of a show so bad you wanted to hurl something at the actor?
If this thought has ever crossed your mind, then Easy Targets by The Burglars of Hamm is the show for you. Consisting of four short one-man shows, Easy Targets allows you to throw rolled up socks at the actor whenever you’d like. And trust me, you’ll want to; but not because the shows are bad. On the contrary, they feature extremely talented actors delivering powerful and entertaining monologues. You’ll throw them because you feel bored, annoyed, distaste, or even hatred towards the performance.

Review
As any Fringe-goer knows, a typical one-man or one-woman show, when done poorly, can be inherently indulgent, arrogantly self-important, and frequently obnoxious. And were they not parody, the solo performers of Easy Targets would be the most obnoxious of the whole bunch. Written, directed, produced, and partly performed by the razor-sharp comedy ensemble The Burglars of Hamm (Carolyn Almos, Matt Almos, Jon Beauregard, and Albert Dayan), Easy Targets has had several incarnations for over a decade, including at the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival, San Francisco Sketch Comedy Festival, and a recent run at Sacred Fools Theater here in Los Angeles.
Before I go on, let’s talk about the socks; proof that the Burglars of Hamm are not just brilliant comedic m

GELFAND’S WORLD—So there I was, sitting in the front row of a little theater on Santa Monica Blvd when a rolled-up pair of socks came flying through the air and hit me in the back of the head. I wasn’t alone, since the actor on stage was himself getting bombarded with socks. Within a few minutes, the stage was covered with socks. Thus begins my account of this year’s Hollywood Fringe festival.

Take three or four hundred theatrical producers and directors, some of them young and a few of them very young. Give each an opportunity to develop a play or a musical and then present it to the public over the course of a month. Make sure that the ticket price is low, and see what develops. That’s the Fringe.
Technically speaking, the weekend of June 2 represented the preview stage of the festival. It was so early in the process that when I dropped in on the festival he

Oh, where to begin! Satire has found its rebel yell at the Hollywood Fringe this year with Easy Targets at Sacred Fools.
Ever have a fantasy of taking out an actor during the most brain-freeze, boring monologue you’ve ever heard? What about the offensive ass directing a tantrum about his latest shoulder chip at you? The Hollywood star whose affected non-trauma is more traumatic than yours? Or even better, what if you could finally face off with your local representative who’s been hiding out and not attending his own town halls? What if you could finally just sock it to ’em!
R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Find out what it means to me, bro’!
Easy Targets is for every audience member who has sat in the dark at a bad play thinking they now know what prison must be like, except you can now act out the fantasy of punishing your jailer.
The most fun you will have at Fringe this year! Hugo Armstrong, Albert Daya, Jon Bea
...Burglars of Hamm Announce EASY TARGETS at Hollywood Fringe Festival- Broadway World
May 03, 2017EASY TARGETS is for every audience member who has sat in the dark at a bad play thinking they now know what prison must be like. It allows the audience to act out the fantasy of punishing their jailers. A satire of one-person-shows, each EASY TARGETS evening draws 4 short solo shows from a library of titles such as “Keep On Truckin’”, “I Feel Pretty” and “The Greatest Love of All” and then invites the audience to show their “appreciation” by pummeling the performers with rolled-up socks any time they feel bored, annoyed, patronized, manipulated, etc. Each audience of EASY TARGETS forms a pack working to remind the performers, writers and designers that if they fail to respect the audience, they will suffer the sock.
Two completely different shows means twice the fun! Come see all eight pieces!
